Taste of Mia in Kuching

This project involved documenting a one-night-only dining event featuring Sarawak’s first Michelin-starred chef, Michell Goh. As one of the head chef of Mia Restaurant in Bangkok, Michell is not only the first Sarawakian to receive a Michelin star but also the youngest female chef in Malaysia to achieve this recognition. The event in Kuching provided a rare opportunity for the local audience to experience her culinary artistry firsthand.

Held at Pullman Hotel Kuching, this exclusive event was part of WhatMatters’ culinary series. The focus of my photography was on capturing the intricate food preparation, the final presentation of each dish, and the chef at work in a high-pressure kitchen environment.

A standout aspect of this project was witnessing the precision and coordination of a Michelin-star kitchen in action. Observing how a professional team operates behind the scenes, from ingredient preparation to plating, provided a fascinating insight into the world of fine dining.
