This project involved documenting the immersive theater performance VII, directed by Chris Ling of Theatrethreesixty. With performing arts photography, the goal was to capture the raw emotion and energy of the seven performers as they brought their stories to life in a unique production created in just seven days.
Performed at La Promenade Mall in 2023, VII was an experimental and fast-paced production. Unlike previous projects, I was not only behind the lens but also part of the cast, with my street photography playing an integral role in the storytelling. I contributed three photo essays, where my images acted as a visual narrative alongside the performers.
One of the challenges was incorporating the number seven into my photography in a meaningful way. Finding creative ways to integrate this theme in my street photography style was both demanding and rewarding. Being part of VII as both a photographer and a contributing cast member was an enriching experience that deepened my appreciation for immersive theater.
